And the winner is....
Trafford and Hulme CAMRA visited last month, rounding off their annual Grand Cheshire Day Out with a BBQ at the Brewery. During the BBQ, it was announced by Beverley Gobbett (Chair of Trafford and Hulme CAMRA) that a brand new award was being inaugurated; an annual "Cask Champion" Award, for services to real ale, and that the first award was to be given to Dunham Massey Brewing Company, and head brewer John Costello. John would like to let everyone know that he, along with all of us here at Dunham Massey Brewing Company, are extremely honoured to have been awarded this prestigious award, and would like to thank Trafford and Hulme CAMRA for all the support they have given us over the years. Well August is drawing to a close, and as we head into September our thoughts turn to Autumn, the nights drawing in, the weather getting colder, but it's not all doom and gloom, because September also brings the beer that everyone has been waiting for since we sold out last September - Green Hop Beer!
Yes the hops are looking good, they're all flowering now, and we expect them to be ready for harvest in a couple of weeks time.
In case anyone isn't familiar with Green Hop Beer, we have our own little hop garden at the brewery, and when the hops are ready, we schedule in a brew of Green Hop Beer. On brew day we pick the hops and put them straight into the beer fresh from the field. What we get is a beer with the freshest hop flavour possible.
Keep your eyes and ears open, because if last years' demand is anything to go by, this amazing beer won't be available for long!
And finally, not only is Green Hop Beer just arounf the corner, but so is another new brew, which is also being made with ingredients growing at the brewery. I won't tell you exactly what it is just now, but watch this space.
